Data Quality
Internal audit 2020
The aim of the HVS AV Database is to answer questions about long-term outcomes after surgery for patients with aortic insufficiency, aortic aneurysms or aortic stenosis. In order to be successful, this requires active involvement from each participating site, specifically with regards to ensuring quality of data and completeness of clinical and echocardiographic follow-up. In order to ensure the adequacy and rigor of the data, the core leaders have decided to perform an audit.
The following criteria for continued participation in the HVS AV Database have been set:
- Early follow-up:
- At least 90% of the patients in the cohort have a clinical follow-up within the first 2 years after surgery.
- At least 90% of the patients in the cohort have an echocardiographic follow-up within the first 2 years after surgery.
- Recent follow-up:
- At least 80% of the patients in the cohort have a clinical follow-up within the past 2 years (including 2018, 2019, and 2020).
- At least 80% of the patients in the cohort have an echocardiographic follow-up within the past 2 years (including 2018, 2019, and 2020).
To evaluate the current completeness the following cohort was selected: (1) patients operated in the period 2013-2017 (2) where the type of procedure and (3) the date of surgery were known. The deadline is on December 31, 2021.
All centers with patients in the cohort have been contacted and received a letter from the core leaders with further information.
